Horse Riding in Perthshire: Treks for Experienced Riders
Horse riding in Perthshire is full of unexpected treats for the experienced rider with its sweeping glens and dramatic hills. Where more experienced riders are happy to travel at faster paces, our ponies will be happy to oblige as there’s nothing they enjoy more than an enthusiastic canter on a grassy track.
Blair Castle Trekking offers some of the very best horse riding in Perthshire, with several options available to more experienced riders:
Two-Hour Hacks
Ridden at walk, trot and canter, hacks allow experienced horse riders to explore more of the estate's hills and glens. The rides may incorporate different terrain, including woodland, moorland, open fields and water crossings.
Time: 10.00 or 14.00 (arriving 0930 or 1330)
Cost: £38 per person
Light lunch offer: £10 extra per person
Craig Urrard Summit Ride (3 Hours)
Experienced riders can reach the summit of Craig Urrard and admire the breathtaking 360° views of rural Perthshire from the top. Taken at walk, trot and canter, the ride takes three hours. Panniers can be provided for guests wishing to take their cameras to capture the views.
Time: 1pm (arriving 1230) every Thursday (please call if you would like to arrange a different day)
Cost: £58 per person
Light lunch offer: £10 extra per person
Stop for a Picnic Ride (4 Hours)
A relaxing picnic ride for experienced, confident riders. After a couple of hours walking, trotting and cantering, enjoy a leisurely picnic lunch next to the river before mounting up and riding home. Picnics are provided by Blair Castle Tullibardine Restaurant, with a variety of freshly made sandwiches to choose from – have a look at our menu to see the range available.
Time: 11.00 (arriving at 1030am)
Dates: on the following Fridays: 14 May, 11 June, 9 July, 13 August, 10 September(please call if you would like to arrange a different date)
Cost: £84 per person, including picnic lunch
